Q 01: Why do I need to monitor my files?

A: The file monitor is useful for watching files that have been changed, renamed, removed and created or a combination of one or more of these without your notification. These changes can cause your computer to run slow or lose data. You can set up this monitor to view the file activity information at any time for any file on your computer.

Q 07: What is the "Filter"? How to use it?

A: The file filter can help you quickly find your wanted files for monitoring. The items in "Filter" are checked by default, you can unselect one or more of them according to your demands.

Q 08: How to stop monitoring?

A: The program will automatically monitor the changes of folders stored in C:\ hard disk (by default) as long as you launch it. To stop the monitoring, go to "File" tab and unselected "Active".

Q 09: How can I clear the logs?

A: Free File Monitor provides you specific log info of the tracked files or folders, including timestamp, action, name and other items. To clear the logs, go to "File" tab and choose "Clear Log" to sweep away all the old log info and generate newer info for your analysis or other use.

Q 10: How can I set the notifications to display?

A: You can manage what type of information the notification should contain by checking or unchecking one or all preferences among file name, directory name, attributes, size, last write, last access, creation and security in "Filter - Notifications".
